Born into a musical family, Drummin' Dave's career started in his infancy. He learned to play the piano at the age of four, from his mother (a Canadian concert pianist and piano teacher). He then took to the violin, but his father (who had played violin himself since high school) complained about sour notes. David began to sing during junior high school, but soon abandoned all other musical pursuits for percussion in 1974. He's been playing his dream instrument (the drum set) since age thirteen. After graduating college (and a few rebellious gigs at college radio stations), David made it a priority to get involved in live, musical performance. He joined fellow-KUSF deejay Steven Abatte in forming Half Blind, and along with their bass accompanyment, the power-trio played such venues as the Hotel Utah, Gilman Street, Lipps Underground, and the Nightbreak (in San Francisco and Berkeley, California). The band reformed under the name Skeleton Moses, but then David progressed onward into Krakpot, during which time he played other Bay Area clubs, including the Mabuhay Gardens, Chi Chi Club, The Stone, and in Davis, California, The Place and the Veterans Memorial Hall. From 1991 to 1997 he remained in the studio with R.P.M., Pluck and El Niño. In 1997 Drummin' Dave started playing live shows again, leading to various venues throughout the U.S. Southwest and West Coast. Drummin' Dave's influences include Ginger Baker, Louis Bellson, Peter Chris, Billy Cobham, Mikkey Dee, Mickey Hart, Gene Hogland, Tom Hunting, Dave Lombardo, Nicko McBrain, Mike McGlaughlin, Keith Moon, Glenn Rhian, Peter Sandoval, Larry Suttle and Lars Ulrich. David became the drummer for the Oakland/Bay Area (Northern California) based metal outfit K.A.I.N. ("Down Factor") in 1996. In 1997 he co-formed the Oakland-based group El Niño with guitarists Johnny Beane and Luis Lobos. He then went on to join Sonoma's own ENSLAVIOR in 1999 for the Y2K downfall of Western Civilization. He currently also drums for SKITZO, H8R and other bands. David resides in Pope Valley, California with his family.
